Holiday Homes County Clare: Where to Stay for the 2026 Golf Season

If you're planning a golf break in 2026, County Clare has given you plenty of reasons to pack your clubs.

This year has been particularly significant for golf lovers visiting the west coast. Lahinch Golf Club hosted the 51st Walker Cup on 5 and 6 September. Just days later, the Amgen Irish Open arrived at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg from 10 to 13 September.

With two major international events taking place within days, Clare has been firmly in the golfing spotlight.

For golfers planning a trip, that makes choosing the right base especially important. The right accommodation can make your days easier, particularly when you're travelling with friends or organising a group tour.

That's where Holiday Homes County Clare can offer a more relaxed way to experience a golf break.

Why Lahinch Makes Sense for a Golf Break

Lahinch gives you something that's difficult to recreate with a standard hotel stay.

You can be close to the golf course, beach, village and local restaurants, while still having space to relax together.

Lahinch Golf Club dates back to 1892 and has a long association with championship golf. Its famous Old Course features natural dunes, Atlantic views and historic holes including The Dell and Klondyke.

The club has also continued developing its visitor facilities. Its 2026 information highlights a newly refurbished clubhouse, indoor performance facilities and work on the Castle Course.

For golfers, this combination makes Lahinch a practical base for exploring County Clare.

When searching for Holiday Homes County Clare, location should be one of your first considerations.

You don't want to spend your golf trip constantly driving between your accommodation, the course and somewhere to eat.

Staying in Lahinch lets you keep those everyday journeys simple.

2026 Has Been a Big Year for Golf in Clare

This year's golf calendar has brought unusual attention to the county.

The Walker Cup brought Great Britain & Ireland and the United States to Lahinch Golf Club on 5 and 6 September. It was only the third Irish club to host the prestigious amateur competition.

The Amgen Irish Open followed at Doonbeg from 10 to 13 September.

Fáilte Ireland described the Irish Open as one of Ireland's largest golf events, with more than 100,000 enthusiasts expected to engage with the event.

The tournament also attracted a strong professional field. Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry, Pádraig Harrington and other major names competed at Doonbeg.

Shane Lowry ultimately won the tournament by 11 shots, securing his second Irish Open title.

For visitors, the significance goes beyond tournament week. These events have put the wider Clare golf offering in front of a much larger audience.

Clare County Council has also highlighted the opportunity to strengthen golf tourism and support local tourism businesses around major sporting events.

That makes 2026 a particularly interesting time to discover Holiday Homes County Clare for your own golf trip.

Stay Beside Lahinch Golf Course

For golfers, convenience matters.

At Self Catering Lahinch, Klondell House sits directly on Lahinch Golf Course, overlooking the famous Dell and Klondyke holes.

The property has seven bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, and can accommodate up to 17 guests. It also has spacious living and dining areas, a fully equipped kitchen, private parking, and Wi-Fi.

You can look out across the links from the house before heading out for your round.

Then, after golf, you have somewhere comfortable to return to without splitting up into separate hotel rooms.

That makes Klondell House particularly suited to golf groups, friends travelling together and larger family trips.

The house is also only a short walk from Lahinch Beach and the village. So your non-golfers don't have to spend their holiday waiting around for the golfers to finish.

For groups searching for Holiday Homes County Clare, that balance can make a real difference.

Planning a County Clare Golf Tour?

You don't have to limit your trip to Lahinch.

County Clare has several courses within reach, giving you the option to build a multi-course itinerary around your stay.

The Self Catering Lahinch golf guide highlights Lahinch Golf Club, Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg, Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club and Spanish Point Golf Club.

Self Catering Lahinch can also help with group golf planning and course recommendations. A minibus can be arranged for golfers who want to explore additional courses around County Clare.

That can be useful when you're organising a group and want to avoid managing several cars.

Lahinch Golf Club also provides important practical information for visitors. The Old Course is a walking course, with no buggies available. Visitors playing the Old Course are required to take at least one caddie in their group.

Green fees for the 2026 season run from 27 April to 16 October, according to the club's current visitor information.

Checking these details before travelling can help you build a realistic itinerary.

What Should You Look For in Golf Accommodation?

When comparing Holiday Homes County Clare, think beyond the number of beds.

Start with location.

Being close to your chosen course can make early tee times much less stressful. It also gives your group more time to enjoy the area.

Next, consider bathrooms.

For a larger golf group, having en-suite bedrooms can make mornings much easier. Klondell House has seven en-suite bedrooms, which helps groups avoid the usual bathroom queues.

Shared space matters too.

A proper dining room and lounge give everyone somewhere to meet after a round. A kitchen also means you can prepare breakfast before an early tee time or enjoy a relaxed dinner together.

Parking is another useful consideration when you're travelling with golf equipment.

At Klondell House, private parking is available, along with Wi-Fi, outdoor space, and fresh towels and linens.

These practical details are easy to overlook when booking. They often become the things you appreciate most once the trip begins.

Make More of Your Time in County Clare

A golf holiday doesn't need to revolve around the course.

Lahinch gives you an easy way to mix golf with coastal walks, beach time, food and local exploring.

The town sits on the Wild Atlantic Way, with Lahinch Beach just a short walk from the Self Catering Lahinch properties.

That means partners or family members can enjoy the area while golfers are on the course.

You can also use Lahinch as a base for exploring wider West Clare.

Doonbeg, Spanish Point and other coastal destinations can all form part of a longer itinerary.

That's another reason Holiday Homes County Clare can work well for a group trip. You're not tied to one course or one activity.

Instead, you can build a few days around what everyone actually enjoys.

Why Choose a Holiday Home for Your Golf Group?

Hotels can work well for short golf breaks.

However, a holiday home gives groups something different: shared space.

You can have breakfast together, compare scores after your round, and relax without needing to meet in a hotel lobby.

For a group of golfers, that social side is often part of the experience.

A spacious property also means you can bring non-golfing friends or family without everyone having to follow the same schedule.

That flexibility is one of the main advantages of choosing Holiday Homes County Clare for a longer golf escape.

And when your accommodation overlooks a historic links course, the setting becomes part of the holiday itself.
